The Nigerian Economic Society (NES) is looking for a highly qualified candidate who will fill the following vacant positions at its Secretariat in Abuja

1. Administrative Officer
2. Finance Officer

Job Type: Full Time

Position: Administrative Officer

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate all preparatory activities, resource persons and other logistics for all NES Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Public Lectures and Executive Council Meeting etc.

These include the preparation / writing of various reports/ memoranda.
• Liaise with key Executive functionaries of Council, such as the President, Business Manager, Editor and Secretary, and ensuring that routine Council directives that pass through the Secretariat are duly carried out.
• Keep track, coordinate and supervise the preparation and publishing of all NES publications, i.e. from the accepted manuscript state to final printing state. Responsible for all matters relating to the editorial and production aspects of NES publication
• Provide the necessary administrative support to all major Council decisions and directives that pass through the Secretariat
• Attend to all incoming mails and ensuring that timely and appropriate action is taken on them.
• Supervise and actually do some of the duties of the staff at the Secretariat, thus, shouldering overall responsibility for the coordination and effective performance of all duties by the NES staff.
• Assist the President, Secretary and Business managers in the Coordination of activities in the State chapters
• Any other duty as may be assigned by Council

Requirements:
• A minimum of B.Sc./HND degree in any of the following discipline: Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, Industrial or Organisational Sociology or Psychology, Public Administration with a minimum of 2.1 or Distinction in the case of HND
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft, Excel, etc
• Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Skilful in Internet and Social Media usage
• Good human and public relations
• Must have at least 7 years work experience in an established organization
• Must not be more than 45 years old
• Must be resident in Abuja.

Condition of service & Remuneration: Attractive


Position: Finance Officer

Requirements:
• Responsible for the process of internal and external payments
• Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice, items or prices.
• Keep track of all credits and debits entries of the Society transactions
• Daily capturing and disbursement of petty cash
• Prepare a month-end closing report and reconcile payable reports of each month to confirm that all amounts received or paid out are accurate
• Prepare stock cards for all NES publications
• Provide supporting documentation for audits
• Scheduling of tax payments
• Liaise with LSIR/FIRS on tax issues and other statutory remittances.
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
• Maintenance of inventory and fixed asset registers
• Support the Society in optimizing our financial transactions and systems
• Strengthen and grow relationships with vendors and suppliers through timely payment
• Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process
• Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
• Provide all necessary financial documents for internal/ external auditing.
• Maintain vendors’ files


Requirements:
• A minimum of B.Sc./HND degree in any of the following discipline: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (with finance or accounting options), or other related discipline with a minimum of 2.1 or Distinction in the case of HND
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft, (both mandatory)
• Experience with accounting software and online platform
• Appreciable knowledge of Power BI is an added advantage
• Ability to keep Society confidences
• Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Skilful in Internet and Social Media usage
• Good human and public relations
• ICAN certification (or in view) is an added advantage
• Must have at least 5 years work experience in an established organization
• Must not be more than 35 years
• Must be resident in Abuja.
